For the smooth and fast movement of vehicles at toll plazas, NHAI
with the collaboration of Common Services Centres has introduced off
line sale of FASTags to ensure smooth Electronic Toll Collection
(ETC).Under this initiative csc centres will be set up at each toll
plazas on National and State Highways for the sale of FASTags for
collection of toll electronically.From August 18 onwards, FASTags could
be bought from sale points of Common Services Centre to be set up near
toll plaza.Electronic Toll Collection determines whether the cars
passing through toll plaza is enrolled under cashless collection of toll
or not. It alerts the system if vehicle is not registered under
system.FASTag electronically debits the accounts of registered vehicle
owners without requiring them to stop at plaza. It is a simple to use;
reloadable tag which enables automatic deduction of toll charges and
lets passenger pass through the toll plaza without stopping for the cash
transaction.
FASTag is linked to a prepaid account from which the applicable toll amount is deducted. The tag employs Radio-frequency Identification (RFID) technology and is affixed on the vehicle’s windscreen after the tag account is active.
It is a perfect solution for a hassle free trip on national highways. FASTag is presently operational at more than 400 toll plazas across National and State highways
